Reviewing tails for mermaid shows

my reviews for mermaid tails I have used for mermaid shows. I do 5-7 mermaid shows a day, 5 days a week. Each show lasts 30 min. the shows are at the pirates table calabash seafood buffet in Myrtle beach in a 10,000 gallon pool inside the restaurant.

*please note this is a review of how the tails perform for shows not an overall review of the tail itself

Finfolk discovery tails

My newest tail, finfolk fabric tail with no vinyl. This is the mandarin goby design.

Look ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ The colors are vibrant and really pop in the water, the fin shape is amazing and this tail looks so amazing. I can’t stop staring at it

Comfort ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ The Finfolk fabric is buttery soft and stretchy and very cozy. The mermaid linden fin is the most comfortable of the hard blade monofins. this tail is so cozy I could sleep in it.

Believability ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ The fabric is thick enough to hide my legs and knees. It’s realistic and so gorgeous in the water and in photos, the only non realistic Thing is the visible heels and the lumps where the monofin straps attach but that’s unavoidable with a fabric tail and a linden monofin, it’s the overall one of the most realistic fabric tails on the market.

Climbing on Waterfall ⭐️⭐️ a little slippery getting up there and you can see my legs through it when I’m up there.

Swimming ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️4.5

this tail swims amazing! It’s just a bit too floaty for my personal taste, (floaty- ness comparable to a Finfun) the propulsion and maneuverability are amazing.

Tricks ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 4.5 handstands are a breeze I could hold them all day but you can see my heels. awesome fluke slaps that don’t soak the floor, flips are easy, a bit too floaty for bubble rings.

Overall ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️4.5 I want like 5 more is these they are definitely my new go to for shows!

Finfolk signature fabric tail (I have 4 so let’s review 3 of them)

Eternal Ember original Finfolk fabric tail

This tail is from the first release of Finfolk fabric tails, it’s one of the first fabric tails they ever made! The original Finfolk Fabrics were made from neoprene. The printing was nice but lost some detail especially in direct sunlight. It was difficult to swim in this tail because it had no drain holes and filled with water. the vinyl also caused drag. (the new tails are printed in house on super nice and thick scuba knit which has a lot more stretch and doesn’t hold water inside like the original tails) They had plastic screws to keep the vinyl casing together and the zippers were white and could be seen easily. (the new tails have matching zippers and Velcro to hold the vinyl together) I used this tail as a photography tail only due to these issues. (again all the kinks have been worked out from the original line and I am a huge fan of these tails.)

I tried this tail recently for shows and was very pleasantly surprised. I added drain holes to the end And used the Linden monofin inside.( I had previously tried the shooter and wave monofins) The mermaid linden fin is a game changer! it’s very comfortable and strong enough to overcome some of the vinyl drag. It’s also big enough to fill the fluke enough to allow some tricks for my shows! It’s not the easiest tail for shows and I definitely like the new fabric tails better but shes a nice tail.

The new made in house tails are very comfortable and thick. Easy to put on and take off. They look amazing and the kids love the scales and the colors. However, The fluke is huge and wide so it’s hard to maneuver and has a lot of drag. After 4 shows and being in the tail for 4 hours, my feet hurt specially my toes. I feel like all the weight of the huge fluke has been sitting directly on my toes. I am unable to flip the fluke up behind me repeatedly for photos in this tail. Unable to do a handstand with the huge floppy fluke and the vinyl. I tried the shooter, wave, and mahina monofins inside and the only one I’m actually able to swim with (without a ton of drag and some pain) is the mahina. this tail would be incredible for a recreational swim or photoshoot but not the best for shows because of the wide fluke.

this tail is just as cozy and beautiful, the fluke is smaller and not as wide so it’s easier to swim with and doesn’t cause pain. Still difficult to maneuver the fluke with the vinyl inside (if you use the shooter or wave monofins) but I can hold the fluke up behind me over and over for photos. Still puts pressure on my feet but not as much. with the linden monofin inside this tail gives me no issues during shows and I use it frequently. Unable to do a handstand Though.

Swimming ⭐️⭐️⭐️ (the butterfly fluke is a 2 and the calypso fluke is a 4 so the 3 is the average)

Tricks ⭐️⭐️ no handstands and decent fluke slaps but it hurts my feet and ankles, flips are easy

These tails are perfect for travel and photography and would be great for a recreational swim

The huge fluke with vinyl makes it difficult to control your fluke, do tricks, pose for photos and it adds drag. The calypso and Lorena flukes are much better for swimming than the sea nymph and butterfly flukes. I do love these tails and use them frequently just not for mermaid shows. I 100% recommend the mermaid linden fin inside the Finfolk fabric tails!

Crazy realistic, gorgeous, easy to put on and take off. Swims amazing and I can control the fluke as of it actually were part of my body. I can move the tips of the fluke to wave at kids. I can do handstands, flips, etc. with ease. Kids love it and believe it’s real. Hurts my feet after a while so I can’t stay in it for the full shift I have to take It off and take a break, I should have used a s instead of an xs shooter inside. I can hold this tail up behind me over and over for photos with no issues. Quick and my most comfortable silicone tail.

Look ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 4.5 It’s a beautiful tail and some of the pirates tell me it’s their personal favorite. it really stands out in the water.

Comfort ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

the inside is neoprene spacer so if you don’t wear leggings inside it can be a bit itchy. with the leggings this tail is very comfortable. the monofin inside is too small for me so that’s why it’s a 4/5 with a better monofin it would be a 5/5

Believability ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ when I get out of the water you can see my legs and when I do handstands but it’s not overly noticeable.

this tail is great in the water! it swims great and it’s the good for maneuvering and turning, with a different monofin it would be even better.

Tricks ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 4.5 perfect for all the tricks except it floats a bit So underwater tricks like bubble rings are tricky. overall it performs really well And I can hold it up for a handstand.

Koi fish Basic silicone tail from Haleymermaid.com

My warmest tail because of the neoprene inside. Kind of difficult to put on. It has a Luna inside so the propulsion is less than it would be if I put a different monofin in there but it still swims great. Harder to control the fluke and because there is a Luna monofin I can’t hold the fluke up for photos. After a while (3-4 hours) the side seams dig into my sides. The adults love this tail the most. Kids think it looks like a cat not a koi lol. Everyone thinks it looks real.

I love the scales and the fluke but this was the practice tail for learning how to assemble the new scale sheet so the construction is messier than tails I would normally make.

Comfort ⭐️⭐️ once I’m in the water it’s pretty cozy but it’s very tight and squeezes my knees and hips. It starts to hurt after a few shows

Believability ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ if the heels weren’t as noticeable I would give it 5 stars. The kids always believe it’s real. If the kids got closer they would be able to see the imperfections (again practice tail) and that would ruin it for some but from a distance it’s awesome

Climbing on Waterfall ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ easy to get up there with this fluke but not easy to pose because of the weird seam and the wide fluke

Swimming ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ has a bit of drag but once you start swimming it has great propulsion. The fluke is wide so it’s a bit difficult to maneuver at times

Tricks ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️I can do all the tricks in this tail, flips, handstands, fluke smacks, etc.

Performs well but it’s a hassle. This tail is great for shows overall but it is difficult to put on and it is squeezy so it is uncomfortable especially when I’m in it for an extended amount of time. The fluke is huge which makes the tunnel difficult since the fluke gets caught on the pool heater pipes

Overall ⭐️⭐️⭐️ 3.5 stars I took off points for the pain and the difficulty behind the scenes

The foot pockets are very cozy and the tail skin is one of the most comfortable tails I own. it’s swimsuit fabric and it’s very comfortable and breathable

Believability ⭐️⭐️⭐️ the tan section is a bit see through I wore blue bottoms and felt like people could see them. when I get out of the water you can see my legs and when I do handstands you can see my heels very clearly. It’s a fabric tail so that’s expected. It does exceed my realism expectactions because you can’t see my legs and knees very clearly.

this tail is slippery and its hard to get up there. you can kind of see my legs and swimsuit bottoms through it once I’m out of the water and I worry about the fabric getting ripped on the rocks.

this tail is amazing in the water it swims great and it’s the best for maneuvering and turning but it’s kind of heavy and sinks a bit. It’s also slow compared to my other tails.
